The Real Deal

Our Cabinet builder sent us over final drawings tonight and we just need to make any last minute changes and sign off on them.  He already has all of our wood and hopes to start building Monday!  There are a couple little changes I want to make but I am totally ready to count hinges and pulls and order those suckers tonight.  SOOOO exciting!

range wall, thinking of just a single panel for the hood--seems too busy with a design that repeats the cabinets above.  I think I only want to baseboard detail on the cabinets closest to the range and no toe kick on the floor to ceiling pantries.  Any input?

this all looks good to me.  Any ideas?

This also looks good to me

Now to get our butts in gear. :)  Once we get past all the small framing details, plumbing and electrical, we will really start to see changes!!!

  1. We rented a house once with a kitchen with the refrigerator on the left side like yours and we had a problem opening the door; the handle would hit the wall and we could barely remove the ice cube maker tray. Just thought I would mention it, in case you haven't thought about the refrigerator door swing.

    1. we have 2.5" to the left of the fridge so we think that is enough but it is a good idea to check again. Our friends rent a place in NYC and you can't open the fridge all the way-it is awful

    2. Well, if you have the refrigerator already, you might open it up and see if anything needs to slide out (like a shelf or tray) and see how wide the door has to open to allow it to be removed. It will probably be fine with the 2.5", but this isn't something you can change once you sign off on the job....

  2. My pantry wall backs up to my built in china cabinet. It is original and has no toe kick and I've never thought about it. Ive never bumped it with my toe.

    1. Yes, I don't think I will have a problem with no toe kick either. Plus it's more historically accurate (and sexy for that matter) to have no toe kick
