Since we had our cabinets painted in our kitchen over a year ago now, things have settled a bit. With the settling, cracks appeared between the ceiling and crown moulding.
So finally (being pushed to finish the kitchen before the imminent Architectural Heritage Center Kitchen Revival Tour) I did something about it. I ordered some antique white caulking through amazon. When it arrived, took me all of about 20 minutes to cover up the cracks. Looks so much better! Because the color of the caulking matches the paint so closely, I didn't even bother to paint over the caulking.

You probably want to go back and paint over the caulk some point soon, even though it matches. Paintable caulk that's left unpainted stays slightly tacky and attracts dust like crazy. Also, I've noticed that the color of caulk tends to fade over time so that even it matches when freshly applied, after a while it becomes a lot more obvious--painting it would fix this problem.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this info. I did not know. I guess I have more painting to do!
