  1. Hi,

My husband and I just bought a very worn out home on N. Lombard St, in the Kenton neighborhood. We live in Rhode Island now, but will be heading up to Portland in mid-Sept.
If you wouldn't mind, we would love any names of subs that you have used or will use that you like and trust.
We fixed up an old 1920 bungalow here, in Warwick, and got spoiled by the best general contractor ever. He works with his two sons. They did a great job.
Anyway, we hope to find good people to work on our new "old" house in Portland. Any help would be very appreciated.
My name is Alyse and my husband is Jim Fielder.
Thank you for any help you can give.

    Sincerely,

    Alyse Fielder

    1. Hi there Alyse,
We actually talked over e-mail a couple weeks ago and I e-mailed you a list of our contractors. I would be happy to e-mail it to you again-just let me know. I hope that all is going well with packing and getting ready for your move!

    2. We are here, In the Kenton neighborhood now, cleaning out our 1905 house. Boy, it wasn't cleaned for years!
I got your list of contractors, and now we need to start. Do you have a recommendation on what to start with first?

      Thanks,

      Alyse and Jim

    3. We are finally in our old, 1905 tiny home in the Kenton neighborhood. Yes, I got your email with the list of contractors.
Now, I am wondering if you could suggest what is best to start with. We need new plumbing, a new kitchen and bath, the walls and ceilings, and so much more.

      thanks,

      Alyse & Jim

    4. Alyse,
What to start with? I would say all the systems. Also you first want to decide if you are going to move anything around as far as the layout of the home goes or add any extra bathrooms/rooms. But, I would say taking care of heating, plumbing and electrical first and then ending with all the cosmetic stuff like floor refinishing, paint, trim, etc. is probably wise. That way, you won't wreck any finish work when you are having the necessary (but so not pretty) things fixed. Best of luck! Can't wait to hear all about it. :)

  2. Well, we are well underway with our renovation. Our drywall is done, we got reclaimed maple gym floors, from our in Scappoose, found a great electrician and plumber, and a good carpenter/contrator.
Please email me if you want any names.

    Alyse
