A little of this, a little of that-that is work on the bathroom

We have slowed on bathroom progress in the last week.  While I installed a couple hooks and the toilet paper holder, we have slowed on painting trim and finishing up on paint stripping.  However, Steve worked his tail off and primed and painted the walls and ceilings.  He still needs to plaster the new wall and paint it as well as fix a little bit of plaster on the window wall that has separated from the lath.
priming all the ceiling cracks
a glimpse of the mess and new wall color
freshly painted medicine cabinet-now we just need the door

a little project inside Ben's closet-finally got to hanging Steve's childhood coat rack

also hung some vintage hooks in Ben's closet (estate sale find) to hang towel, laundry bag and toys on

Welcome Baby Ben

Our sweet boy has arrived!
Benjamin Andrew

 April 6, 2010

Ben arrived 10 days early and is doing awesome....he took a fast-track into home remodeling and is quite a champ at handling it.  He has already slept through me drilling and putting in hooks and hardware in his room, dad painting sanding the bathroom as well as vacuuming.  Gotta start 'em early, right?  Also, he went to his first estate sale at 10 days old today and came shopping for privacy glass for our bathroom windows.
We are completely infatuated with the little man and are so glad he is here happy and healthy...and sleeping well :)

Bano coming together

Still needs about what it needed last week, but slowly and surely coming together.  The sink is bolted to the wall, towel hooks are hung (sussex from pottery barn), shower curtain rod is trimmed to size and hung (from vintagetub.com), electrical is fully in and the sconces are in (need a little plaster work as Steve cut out the plaster just a wee bit too big).  We have had some hang ups with pipe nipples not being the right size and just not enough hours or energy in the day...everything basically takes 5x longer than anticipated.
I did buy sconces from Rejuvenation last Friday, changing our minds last minute and settling on the marion sconces with the mission satin frosted flared shades because the sconces for one were cheaper in seconds and cheaper to start but even more importantly A) look awesome b) don't stick out from the wall as far as the gilchrist which makes opening the medicine cabinet a lot easier.  We still have not picked out a ceiling light but I think it will be easier to find a good match with the marion.
I also had another contractor come over to bid out our built-in today so we will see how that turns out...cross your fingers the bid is fair and we can get it going.
